Chess.

The Chess Club meets on Tuesday afternoons for 3 hours of friendly (usually) battles across the chess boards.

We are always looking for new members, be they novices or grand masters (well, perhaps not too grand). We feel sure there is a well of chess talent in Chatteris who currently get their thrills playing chess against their computers.

So, if you want to play against human opposition for a change please call Alf Wicks on 01 354 693948.

Yoga.

Another activity recently started at the Centre which is proving to be very popular is our Yoga class. This meets at the Centre on Thursday mornings, and under the expert tutelage of Steve Shortland members are guided through movements and meditations 'bringing reunion with the universal spirit'.

The photos displayed here (right) show only a glimpse of the many movements Steve takes the class through.

If you are interested in this facinating discipline please call Steve on 01 354 741317 for details on how to join the class.

Short Mat Bowls

The main hall has proven the ideal location for the Short Mat Bowls club to meet and enjoy their weekly games.

When the Centre was re-equipped after the refurbishment 2 new bowls mats were purchased. However, demand from the bowlers was so great that a third mat was needed to allow all interested bowlers to join in.

If you would like to come along - currently the bowls club meets on Thusday afternoons - please ring Barry Wade on 01 354 696886 for more details.

Large meetings and Parties.

The main hall is a large room which can be divided into 3 distinct sections by means of room dividers which completely separate one section from another. However, when required the dividers can be withdrawn to allow the full length of the hall to be used as a meeting space.

Here, we see the hall being set up for a party celebrating a 90th birthday anniversary. The setting for this particular party was created by the Dollys Vintage Tea Party company, and was a great success.

Community Cinema.

The Annexe is now used as the venue for the Chatteris Community Cinema. This is an activity which has started in 2011.

The Annexe can hold up to 56 seats in cinema layout, and it is clear the Chatteris public have welcomed this new facility because the cinema is playing to packed houses.

The Cinema Club is holding performances monthly at the moment - usually on a Saturday. This may change, and for up to date information you really should access their exciting web site - so please click here to go to that site.
